A VIADUCT AND NO ONE ELSE

Today is a nice day. The sky is big and bright and blue and the clouds are round and fluffy and there are just enough to make me want to sigh. Do you ever look into the sky at the clouds and think that there are just a enough clouds and then sigh? Well, do you? I am a viaduct. I am a bridge resting on a series of narrow reinforced concrete arches with high supporting towers and carrying a road over an obstruction. Did you know what a viaduct was? I don't think that you did. I am big and heavy and cold and concrete, and if you laid down on me on a very cold day you would be very cold because I am cold. When was the last time you laid on a viaduct when it was cold? Do you think that you should try it? I think that you should. As a bridge carrying a road over an obstruction, I have many many cars drive over me everyday. There are minivans and BMWs and mopeds and semis and buses. They never take the time to lay on my cold hard grey concrete. They just drive drive drive. It makes me want to yell, "Stop driving over me and come lay on my cold hard grey concrete, you cars!" Do you ever yell when things don't go your way? How does that make you feel? Today a man came and jumped off me into the obstruction that I go over. I do not know why he would want to jump in the obstruction when could just drive on me. Maybe he was upset that I yelled. Or maybe he has never looked up at the clouds and sighed or taken the time to lay on the cold hard grey cement. What do you think? |
