EAST JORDAN MARKET'S
PORTAL FOR NERVOUSNESS

perspectives on places

The author of this column visited four states in the past twenty-eight hours. He first visited Michigan, he next visited Ohio, he next visited Indiana, and then he visited the south side. Of Chicago.

Livonia, Michigan: In this town not far outside of Detroit is a small theatre. It is called Trinity House Theatre. Linford, of Over The Rhine, performed there on Friday evening. He played the piano, sang, spoke, and read prose which he wrote.

Wellington, Ohio: The author slept in a stranger's house, ate a stranger's ice cream sandwiches for breakfast, and moved a stranger's objects into a stranger's rented Ryder Truck.

West Bend, Indiana: There is a Fazzoli's here. The breadstick fairy at Fazzoli's here is friendly. She addressed the author's friend, a bearded man named Greg, as "ma'am."

South Side, Chicago, Illinois: There is an apartment here. The author unloaded a stranger's belongings from a stranger's rented Ryder Truck into the apartment. The author and Greg sat atop the Ryder Truck here with the strangers. They are not strangers anymore.

Room 608, Culbertson Hall, Moody Bible Institute, North Side, Chicago, Illinois: The author lives here.
